Our sustainability work
For A Sustainable Future In Lofsdalen
Sustainability in Lofsdalen is about caring for our mountain nature, our businesses, and our village, as well as nearby communities, in a way that allows both current and future guests to enjoy the area. We focus on simple, collective practices that minimise our impact on the environment, enhance local collaboration, and create more stable conditions for businesses throughout the year. When we come together to make small changes frequently and over time, the impact is significant.
Our focus areas
Ecological Responsibility
We minimise our impact on the environment through straightforward practices for energy consumption, waste management, and cleanliness. By encouraging visits throughout various seasons and promoting eco-friendly activities such as cycling, hiking, and orienteering, we contribute to the preservation of the mountain’s unique ecosystem.

Economic Sustainability
Innovative Initiatives
"In Lofsdalen we are working step by step toward becoming a more sustainable mountain destination. It involves simple, shared routines—such as caring for nature, collaborating locally, and promoting nature‑friendly activities like cycling and hiking. When we do this together, we create both a better experience for our guests and stronger conditions for the businesses on site."

What we’re doing right now in Lofsdalen
As a business association we work long‑term so that Lofsdalen remains a vibrant and sustainable mountain destination all year round. Our efforts focus on nature, trails, business development, and collaboration.
We run development projects for year‑round tourism
We actively pursue projects that strengthen local companies, broaden the activity offering, and enable Lofsdalen to grow even outside the peak season. The goal is to create more stable jobs and a thriving economy throughout the year.
We support Lofsdalsspår in their work on trails and paths
Together with Lofsdalsspår we develop and quality‑assure the region’s cycling and hiking routes. This cooperation lets us provide safe and sustainable trails for both residents and visitors.
We have land‑owner agreements for all trails and paths
In partnership with Lofsdalsspår we have agreements with every landowner. This ensures that the trails are managed sustainably, that natural values are respected, and that activities are carried out in good dialogue with local landowners.
We follow a maintenance plan for the trails
We adhere to a joint maintenance plan that means each year we:
Improve cycling and hiking routes
- Address wear and tear
- Ensure clear signage and safe pathways
- This keeps the trails in high quality and suitable for all skill levels.
